As part of our Reviving Nature in Arisaig project, we’re transforming the community orchard into a thriving, wildlife-friendly space for everyone to enjoy. We’re planting wildflowers, native shrubs and trees, adding raised beds and a footpath, and creating a space that supports local biodiversity for years to come.
The Community Orchard Design Competition
The competition is open to everyone. You don’t need experience; there’s no age limit and no rules about how creative you can get.
There are two categories:
Most Imaginative Design
This one is for the kids! Draw, paint, build a model, make a collage – however you want to bring your dream nature garden to life, it’s up to you. Fairy gardens, bug palaces, wildflower meadows… put those imaginations of yours to work.
Best Orchard Design
For the grown-ups, we’re looking for designs that will actually work in the communal orchard space. These designs should be practical, nature-friendly, and good for local wildlife. We’re thinking pollinators, native planting, and a space the whole community can enjoy all year round – but really, as long as you follow the guidelines on the map, it’s up to you.
The winners will have the opportunity to see elements of their design brought to life in the communal garden. For the kids, we’re working on sourcing a small prize for their creative efforts too – watch this space.
